Principal Desk

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Bombay College of Pharmacy (BCP). BCP is one of the premier pharmacy colleges in India, imparting quality pharmacy education and research for more than 60 years. BCP was founded in 1957 by the Indian Pharmaceutical Association- Maharashtra State Branch (IPA-MSB) with financial assistance from Government of Maharashtra and several pharmaceutical corporations. Since its inception as a college offering Diploma in Pharmacy, the college has grown in stature and at present offers Undergraduate, Post-Graduate and Doctoral programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The programmes are recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India, All India Council for Technical Education and the University of Mumbai. BCP has also been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and has been granted autonomous status by UGC for a period of 10 years since 2019.

BCP offers Post-Graduate and PhD programmes in Pharmaceutical Sciences recognized by University of Mumbai. The M. Pharm./PhD Program is offered in the specializations of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Analysis. BCP has well equipped laboratories, state of the art equipment, instruments, internet facilities and library to assist in conducting quality research. The Research Society of BCP (RSBCP) is recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India. Several faculty members have received teaching and research grants from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), University Grants Commission (UGC), the Council of Scientific and Industrial research (CSIR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT) and the corporate sector. BCP encourages and undertakes collaborative projects with industries and academia. More than 300 industry sponsored projects have been completed.

BCP visualizes itself as a centre for excellence in teaching as well as research. With this in mind, several state-of-the-art facilities like Novel Drug Delivery System laboratory, Drug Metabolism Research Centre, Computer Aided Drug Design laboratory, Drug Information Service Centre, Radioimmunoassay Laboratory, National Facility for Research and Training in Integrated Analytical Techniques, Library networking and Industry Institute Interaction Cell have been or are being developed and implemented. The Pharmaceutical Industry, Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence domains need suitably trained scholars to become globally competitive and, in this regard, BCP is also planning additional courses in specialized fields and focusing research on areas of future interest.

The Mission of BCP is to educate and train students in the basic and advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences and to contribute to improvement of health of the society through quality educational and research programme. BCP has, over six decades, produced several stellar pharmacists and research scholars and as of today many of the BCP alumni hold prominent positions in industry and academia both in India and abroad. Our students blend professionalism with a sense of social responsibility so as to be recognized as dutiful citizens of this country. Every year the academic excellence is reflected by the number of students that emerge as distinction holders. At the same time our students also actively participate in the intercollegiate events like Rx Festival, Inter-University Research competition and lot of other extra-curricular activities throughout the year.
The Placement Cell at Bombay college of Pharmacy has a very good track record of placing Graduate and Post-Graduates students in the leading pharmaceutical industries. Many students also pursue higher studies (Ph D, Post-Doctoral Studies) in the field of pharmacy or management in India and abroad.
